Bio/History
Digby Dance was founded in 2001, moved from Boston to NYC in 2005 and ended in 2009.

In its first five years, Digby Dance gave over 90 performances and received grants from the LEF Foundation, the Putnam Foundation, the Boston Cultural Council, and the National Foundation for the Advancement of Arts. Artistic Director Kate Digby’s choreography has been commissioned by CRASHarts, the Triple Helix Piano Trio, The Yard, Dartmouth Dance Ensemble and Emmanuel College, was featured in WGBH’s Greater Boston Arts documentary, and has been performed in the United States, Ecuador and India.

Digby Dance collaborated with Roxbury Community College and BLACKOUT Arts Collective to create a free 3-week summer arts intensive for middle school students, and developed a workshop, “How to Watch a Dance Performance,” for K-5th grade students. Currently, the company is expanding its educational programs to include curriculum for grassroots social change based on themes explored in its artistic works.
